What is Nude Stack'd?

It's the tower-stacking game you already know, rebuilt for a night in together. The blocks carry six symbols, plus 17 "?" wild blocks, and the card deck turns each pull into a small invitation: a question, a dare, a moment. You don't have to plan anything or say the awkward first thing. The game does the asking.

We made it for couples who love each other and want an easy reason to start an evening that isn't another episode. That's the whole idea behind Playmate Labs: small, easy invitations that give two people a reason to start.

What's in the box?

How do you play a couples stacking game?

If you've ever played a block tower game, you know most of it already. Here's how Nude Stack'd works.

1. Build the tower together. Stack the blocks in layers of three, each layer crossing the one below.
2. Take turns pulling a block. One hand, no rushing, no wobbling the table.
3. Match the symbol. Most blocks carry one of six symbols. A "?" block is a wild card: pick any category you like. Draw a card from the category with the same symbol.
4. Choose your level. Level 1 is easy, Level 2 is a step further, Level 3 is the bold one. Do it, or pass.
5. Place the block on top and hand over to your partner.
6. When the tower falls, the round's over. Rebuild it or call it a night.

Our one house rule: anyone can pass

Any card, any level, any time. Pass and pull again. Nothing has to lead anywhere. The point of the game is the laughing and the talking, not getting to a finish line.

What kind of prompts are on the cards?

Each card has three levels. Here are a few prompts from the deck:

• Level 1: "Blindfold me and spin me around once."
• Level 2: "Blindfold me and take me somewhere, I'll guess where I am."

• Level 1: "Give me a kiss you'd do in public."

Silly, sweet, sometimes a bit cheeky.

Why play a game together at all?

Doing something new together seems to help. In a set of studies published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, couples who did a short, novel and exciting task together reported bigger increases in relationship quality than couples given a more mundane task (Aron et al., 2000). A stacking game won't fix everything. It's a fun way to try something new on a night in.
